New Scifi and Fantasy Releases: Week of May 16

Posted by Simcha 5:20 PM, under | 9 comments

There aren't too many new releases this week, though considering all the books on my shelves that are still waiting to be read, this is actually a bit of a relief.

If you are a fan of the Vampire Academy books than you will probably be excited about the release of the fifth novel in the series, Spirit Bound, which will be available this Tuesday. Worldshaker, by Richard Harlen, is a new addition to the YA stempunk genre and it looks like it could be a pretty good book, and one which I will probably want to try sometime soon. And if you like graphic novels, perhaps Sweet Tooth, by Jeff Lemire, will appeal to you, though I don't know much about graphic novels so I have no idea if this is actually any good.

Hope you have a great reading week!

the cover for dirty rotten aliens is so creepy!

Definitely some interesting releases coming out this week. I particularly like the sound of Worldshaker and Wolfangel. Thanks for the heads up!

Some great looking fantasy here, love some of those covers, Realy looking forward to Swords & Dark Magic!

Oooh, I want to read the demon's covenant!! and of course the vampire diaries book!

hi simcha! i haven't been reading historical romances lately because i was in a bit of a young adult kick but if you want a fun, light historical with more plot than sex, i suggest alissa johnson's McAlistair's Fortune. or a contemporary romance equivalent of is Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James. i highly recommend both.

hope that helps :)

I'm interested in WOLFSANGEL.

I will read LEVIATHAN by Scott Westerfeld first, before I put my nose in any other YA steampunk novel. I expect the delivery of my paperback copy end of May.

Flight of Shadows has captured my interest. I already really want to know what sort of deoformity she has.

chelleyreads: Thanks for the suggestions. Julie James is one of my faveorite contemp. romance authors and I've already read all her books. I started the other one, McAlistair's Fortune, but I just did not like it at all. While the premises is interesting, I pretty much hated all the characters. Oh well, I'll keep on looking.

Carrie: I enjoyed the first book in the series so I might want to try the Demon's Covenant as well. Though I don't usually read YA books.

Time4u Book Review: Me too! Although I haven't read too many anthologies, Swords & Dark Magic looks awesome and I'll definitely be getting that one.

ediFanoB: While Wolfsangel looks like it might be good, a negative interaction that I had with the author has turned me off of wanting to read any of his books :(

Stephanie: You're right, Flight of Shadows does look good. I actually didn't even really read the description for that one because the cover just didn't grab me but now I think I'm going to look into it more.

Oops!
A negative interaction with an author. that does not sound good.
