I recently realized that it's been ages since I last did a giveaway here so when I saw Kathy promoting her Back to the Books Hop I decided to participate. Especially those of you who have stuck around since the beginning, even though I haven't been as active here as I used to be (on the plus side, this largely has to do with the fact that I have a new job! Unfortunately the downside is that I don't have time for anything fun anymore).

New SciFi & Fantasy Releases: Week of Aug 26

Posted by Simcha 6:23 PM, under | 7 comments

So in case any of you noticed that there was no list last week (and I admit that I hope someone did) I apologize and blame it on my kids.  But tomorrow they are all back in school (yay!!) so hopefull I'll be able to get into a regular blogging schedule again.

It looks like there are some pretty good books here this week. One that I already had on my radar is Everyday by David Levithan, which sounds like it could be pretty good. There is also a new Sirantha Jax book in Ann Aguirre's scifi series, which I have been enjoying.

There are several other new books here by authors whose books I intend to read someday, but haven't yet gotten around to, such as Rowena Cory Daniells and Philippa Ballantine.

One book here that I've already read, and enjoyed, is Defiance by C.J. Redwine, and you can read my review of it here.

So are there any books here that you are looking forward to reading?

Thanks to Connor, Lev, and Risa—and their high-profile revolt at Happy Jack Harvest Camp—people can no longer turn a blind eye to unwinding. Ridding society of troublesome teens while simltaneously providing much-needed tissues for transplant might be convenient, but its morality has finally been brought into question. However, unwinding has become big business, and there are powerful political and corporate interests that want to see it not only continue, but also expand to the unwinding of prisoners and the impoverished.

Cam is a product of unwinding; made entirely out of the parts of other unwinds, he is a teen who does not technically exist. A futuristic Frankenstein, Cam struggles with a search for identity and meaning and wonders if a rewound being can have a soul. And when the actions of a sadistic bounty hunter cause Cam’s fate to become inextricably bound with the fates of Connor, Risa, and Lev, he’ll have to question humanity itself.

Rife with action and suspense, this riveting companion to the perennially popular Unwind challenges assumptions about where life begins and ends—and what it means to live.
